NATURE

For this week's photo assignment, I focused on taking pictures of nature where I captured images of a yellow rose. The one I chose as the best for photo #7 was the one on the windowsill because of the lines it created in the picture.

Visual Dictionary

This week's gimp assignment was to create a visual dictionary. In order to do this, we had to select a word and add images together to visualize the definition of the word. Looking online, I found the word "vacuity" which means emptiness, and immediately came up with an idea for it. In the end I didn't mean for it to be such a dark picture, but I think it captures the word fairly well.

Black and White

This week I decided to take pictures in black and white and focused on taking pictures of some of my mom's antiques because they gave off some nice shadows that I thought added to the pictures.

Visual Puns

This past week's gimp assignment was to create visual puns. The puns I created were "pearls of wisdom," "potty mouth," and "belly laugh."

Panoramic

This week's gimp assignment was to make a panoramic picture. In order to do this, we had to take three pictures that had roughly a 20% overlap between them, which we would then open up in gimp and manipulate with different techniques so we would get an overall view that would look somewhat normal.

Portrait

This week I took portrait pictures of some of the children at my mom's daycare. The picture I chose as the best was one that captured the personality of the little boy, Whit, because he's such a character and always makes the funniest and cutest facial expressions. I also had him wear his jersey because he's obsessed with hockey :)

Shadows and Light

For this week's assignment, I decided to capture shadows and light. The images I focused on were candy, the lamp next to a window, and a bowl which all gave off different reflections when hit with sunlight. The picture I chose as the best had a lot of different shadows and light compared to all of my other pictures, which I thought were really interesting. woohoo :)
